As part of Emory Healthcare, Georgia's most comprehensive academic health system, we have the resources to provide the state's highest-level care. Our hospital has psychiatric inpatient beds, inpatient and outpatient electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) services, ketamine infusions and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) services, an Outpatient Geriatric Psychiatry Partial Hospitalization Program and an Adult Intensive Outpatient Program. Our team of physicians, nurses, licensed social workers and licensed professional counselors work together to provide care for our patients' unique needs.

Neuromodulation Services
Our Neuromodulation Clinic helps treat some of the most pervasive and hard-to-treat mental illnesses. The clinic provides inpatient and outpatient services that include Electroconvulsive
Therapy (ECT), and off-label medication administration and other neuromodulation therapies as appropriate.
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
- ECT is a highly effective and fast-acting treatment for symptoms of certain mental illnesses.
- Modern ECT is performed under general anesthesia. Small electric currents are passed through the brain to intentionally trigger a brief seizure.
- Our ECT program uses a protocol that minimizes side effects on memory or thinking during the course of treatment.
- ECT is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday and is often provided on an outpatient basis.
Treatment Resistant Depression Therapies
- After an in-depth psychiatric consultation, patients may receive recommendations around medications, talk therapy, and other neuromodulation options.
To make a referral the Neuromodulation Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For referrals, please call 404-728-6542.
