Basic Research
Our investigators are working to discover novel signaling pathways underlying the proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and metastasis of cancer cells, which could potentially lead to the identification of novel targets for therapeutic intervention.
Clinical Research
Our investigators conduct a broad range of clinical studies including a large number of clinical trials that evaluate new drugs or agents, new devices, new regimens, and/or new strategies for the treatment and prevention of cancer.
Translational Research
Work by our translational investigators includes the discovery of potential novel drugs, modification of available drugs, and development of new targeted cancer therapies.
Research Programs at Winship
The Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology is a major component of Winship Cancer Institute, a matrix cancer center that aims to accelerate the translation of science to better cancer prevention, screening, and care. At Winship, there are four full research programs, each comprised of faculty from our department, and investigators from across Emory University and partner institutions.
