The Clinical Distinctions designation program is designed to recognize faculty who have devoted a majority of their time and careers to providing excellence in clinical care.
While the distinctions are not intended to compete with or replace the standard academic promotions mechanism for faculty advancement, it emphasizes the critical contributions of clinically focused faculty in the School of Medicine. Regular faculty who have a minimum 0.5 FTE and devote at least half their time to clinical efforts (patient care and clinical administration) are eligible for the distinction of Senior Physician, Distinguished Physician or Eminent Physician. These distinctions are outlined on the School of Medicine's intranet website.
Nomination Process
Prior to the due date for nominations to the School of Medicine (September for Senior Physician, November for Distinguished Physician, and January for Eminent Physician), faculty members will be invited to submit their CV and personal statement along with other supporting documents to the Department’s Clinical Distinctions Committee. Faculty packets are reviewed and faculty members that are felt to meet the criteria for the level of distinction will be nominated to the School of Medicine.
