Institutional service and leadership

  • Kenneth Moberg, PhD serves as Director of the Graduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology (GMB) (2019).
  • Maureen Powers, PhD serves as Director, Discovery Phase of Emory School of Medicine Medical Curriculum (since 2014).
  • Dr. Gary Bassell, PhD serves as Scientific Director, Emory Stem Cell Core (2018-present).

External awards, appointments and leadership 

  • Andrew Kowalczyk, PhD was appointed Vice President-elect (2019-2020) and will be Vice President (2020-2021) of the Society for Investigative Dermatology.
  • Gary Bassell, PhD was appointed to the editorial board of Cell Reports (2019) 
  • Gary Bassell, PhD was elected to serve as Councilor on Executive Committee of American Association of Anatomy, Cell Biology and Neurobiology Chairs (AACBNC) (2019).
  • Victor Faundez, MDPhD was appointed as Editor of iScience (Cell Press) (2019-2021). He has numerous appointments for editorial service that include: Board of Editors, Molecular Biology of the Cell (ASCB) (since 2006), editorial boards for Cellular Logistics (2011-2018) and Traffic (since 2012).
  • Victor Faundez, MDPhD was appointed as a permanent member of NIH Nuclear and Cytoplasmic Structure, Function and Dynamics (NCSD) Study Section (2015-2020).
  • Criss Hartzell, PhD was elected Fellow, American Association of Advancement of Science (2018).
  • Arthur English, PhD was appointed to the National Advisory Board for Medical Rehabilitation, NICHD, NIH (2018)
  • Kenneth Moberg, PhD was appointed as Editor, Scientific Reports (2018).
  • James Zheng, PhD was appointed to serve as permanent member of NIH Neuronal Differentiation, Plasticity and Repair (NDPR) Study Section (2018-2022).
  • Kenneth Moberg, PhD was appointed to serve as permanent member of NIH Development-2 (DEV2) Study Section (2017-2021).
  • Hyojung Choo, PhD received the Woodruff Scholar Early Independence Award (2017).
  • David Katz, PhD was appointed to serve as permanent member of American Cancer Society study section (2016).
  • Arthur English, PhD has served as Associate Editor of Neurorehabilitation and Repair since 2013. He served as co-chief Editor of Cells, Tissues and Organs (1999-2018).
  • Criss Hartzell, PhD has served on editorial board of Journal of General Physiology since 1994.
  • Win Sale, PhD has served for many years on the editorial board of Cytoskeleton.
  • Gary Bassell received the NARSAD Distinguished Investigator Award from Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (2013).
