Greetings from Dr. Paul Ghareeb

Dear Visitors,
The mission of the Emory University Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program is to develop and train the next generation of leaders in Plastic Surgery. To do so, the program cultivates an educational atmosphere centered around clinical excellence, resident autonomy, responsibility, and research achievement. Graduates of our program consistently match into top fellowships and are recruited into desirable positions after completion of residency.
Emory University offers two ACGME-accredited residency programs. The three year independent program selects two candidates per year after prior surgical training, while the six year integrated program selects three candidates directly out of medical school. Graduates of both programs are eligible for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Residents of our program are exposed to all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including breast surgery, aesthetic surgery, traumatic and oncologic reconstruction, microsurgery, hand and peripheral nerve surgery, and pediatric/craniofacial surgery. Residents rotate through a variety of clinical settings that allow for the care of diverse patient populations, including at Grady Memorial Hospital, multiple Emory inpatient and outpatient facilities, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the Atlanta VA Medical Center, and the Atlanta Plastic Surgery private practice. These experiences promote versatility and comfort for our residents across the spectrum of care settings and give them the skills and confidence necessary to operate in any environment. Furthermore, elective time is integrated into the senior clinical years for residents to explore areas of interest or to participate in global health and research activities. Weekly didactic conferences are lead by our world-renowned faculty, who are completely invested in the education and training of our residents.
We are fortunate to be located in Atlanta, GA, which is the 6th largest metropolitan area in the country. Atlanta has a lot to offer — warm weather, southern charm, a popular and diverse restaurant scene, abundant access to big-city amenities, and ample open spaces for outdoor activities. Home to the world's busiest airport, Atlanta also provides direct access to many desirable destinations for easy air travel across the country and world. The cost of living in Atlanta is well balanced with all that the city has to offer, making it a wonderful location to train as a resident.
At Emory, we pride ourselves on providing world-class surgical training in a collegial, family-oriented atmosphere. Our residents are prepared to become leaders in the field and achieve their career goals after graduation. Upon considering all of these factors, we firmly believe that Emory has the best plastic surgery training program in the country. We invite you to learn more and to become a part of it.
Sincerely,
Paul Ghareeb, MD
