Overview
Emory’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery offers four-week visiting clinical rotations throughout the academic year. Rotations are available in Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery. Rotators in Cardiac Surgery and Thoracic Surgery will be assigned to a service at Emory University Hospital, Emory Midtown Hospital or Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital. Congenital Cardiac Surgery rotations are on the service at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Course numbers for the three rotations are:
- SU15 - Cardiac Surgery
- SU16 - Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery
- SU34 - Thoracic Surgery
All applicants should provide a current CV, a letter of good standing from the home medical institution and proof of passing the USMLE Step I exam. Additionally, the student must have completed at least one Cardiac Surgery or Thoracic Surgery rotation at their home institution. Please specify the rotation requested.
The calendar of rotations will follow that of Emory School of Medicine, but other schedules may be discussed on a case-by-case basis. Please provide your first, second and third choice of rotation dates. Requests will be honored when possible.
Applications
MD and DO students attending AAMC Member Medical schools in the US and Puerto Rico can apply through Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO). Application and registration fees apply and may vary based on location.
