Overview
Emory’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery offers one-month visiting clinical rotations throughout the academic year to general surgery residents preparing for their Fellowship match. Rotations are available in Cardiac Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. Rotators in Cardiac Surgery and Thoracic Surgery will be assigned to a service at Emory University Hospital, Emory Midtown Hospital or Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital.
All applicants should provide a current CV, a letter of good standing from the home medical institution and USMLE scores. Additionally, the resident must have completed at least one Cardiac Surgery or Thoracic Surgery rotation at their home institution. Please specify the rotation requested.
The rotation schedule follows the monthly calendar but alternate schedules may be discussed on a case-by-case basis. Please provide your first and second choice of rotation months. Requests will be honored when possible.
There are no application or registration fees, however there are costs associated with the rotation including travel, housing, training permit, food and other necessities.
To request an application for the cardiac or thoracic rotation, please contact Susan Blackstock.
Residents interested in the Congenital Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship should check the Pediatric Cardiothoracic rotations that are on service at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
