As part of the 100th anniversary of the Department of Surgery, we seek to honor the life and work of our dear friend and colleague, Dr. William C. Wood. Join us as we remember Dr. Wood and the legacy he imparted on Emory Surgery.

Seven years of preparation. Thousands of construction details. Millions of dollars in investment. Designing an entire floor of a hospital is a feat of planning—yet nothing reveals the effectiveness of a design like the experience of its first year.

Michael Lowe, MD, has accepted the offer to become Vice Chair, Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development for the Department of Surgery, effective July 1, 2025.

Dr. Lowe will report to and serve as a senior advisor to the Department Chair and the Chair leadership team, advance the professional development of our faculty, create and implement individual professional development plans, support faculty recruitment and retention, and energize an engaged faculty community.
