Application Process
ERAS applications to the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals General Surgery Training Program are accepted through November 1. Complete applications must contain the ERAS common application form, a personal statement, a medical school transcript, a USMLE or COMLEX transcript, and three letters of recommendation.
Medical student performance evaluations are accepted through November 5.
Graduates of non-LCME accredited medical schools must provide their ECFMG status report.
Foreign nationals in the residency are hired on J1 visas only.

The Department of Surgery and the General Surgery Residency Program endeavor to recruit the highest caliber applicants to this program. Criteria for selection include, but are not necessarily limited to, high academic performance, demonstrated leadership, exemplary moral conduct, and a commitment to excellence.
