Current Fellows

Davide Cina MD, PhD

Dr Cina grew up in Toronto, Canada. He attended McMaster University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Science in interdisciplinary studies. He then started his MD-PhD at the University of Toronto where he studied genes that regulate renal glomerular filtration barrier function. Part way through his PhD, he moved with his supervisor to the Northwestern University MSTP program where he was awarded both his MD and PhD. He then went on to complete a residency in Urology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. During residency, a Michael Smith grant allowed him to pursue a post-doctoral research year in the provincial HLA lab studying clinical applications of T cell repertoire sequencing in renal transplant. His research interests include immune risk stratification to drive personalized medicine in transplant and immune mechanisms of transplant pathology. In his spare time Davide enjoys exercising and is an avid cyclist and paddle board racer.

David Faber, MD

Dr. Faber grew up in Miami, FL. He attended the University of Pennsylvania where he obtained a BA in Cognitive Science. He returned home to attend medical school at the University of Miami, during which he completed a one-year fellowship in medical education. He completed his general surgery training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA where he served as administrative chief resident. His residency training included a two-year research fellowship under Dr. Andrew Adams, during which he investigated the mechanisms of inducible tolerance in large animal allo- and xenotransplant models.

He is excited to stay at Emory to complete training in abdominal transplant surgery. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys reading, traveling, and supporting the Miami sports teams in all forms. He is joined in Atlanta by his wife, Tracy.

Mack Morris, MD

Dr. Morris grew up in western Pennsylvania and obtained his undergraduate degree from Penn State University. His medical degree is from the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Morris then completed his general surgery training at the University of Cincinnati. While in Cincinnati, he also spent two years of dedicated time performing both basic science and clinical outcomes research.

Dr. Morris enjoys spending time with his family and exercising when not at the hospital. He has an energetic 2-year-old boy and a rambunctious 5-year-old Boxer (dog). His clinical/research interests include: multi-organ transplantation, expanding the donor pool/utilizing marginal grafts, and transplant oncology.

Matt Winn, MD

Dr. Winn grew up in Peachtree City, GA. He attended the University of Georgia where he received his BS in Biochemistry, Cellular Biology, and Microbiology. He then received his MD from the Medical College of Georgia where he was the recipient of the J. Harold Harrison scholarship. He moved to Denver, CO after medical school to complete his general surgery residency at the University of Colorado. He is excited to be back in Georgia to complete his training in multiorgan abdominal transplant surgery at Emory.

Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his family including long walks with their dog, Ralph.
