Overview
The Emory Crohn's and Colitis Center serves as a referral center for complex and difficult inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), particularly Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Our multidisciplinary staff is committed to providing patients with the best care possible, and is composed of surgeons, gastroenterologists, nurses, patient care coordinators, and radiologists.
We believe in personalized care, and hold monthly IBD conferences to discuss individual patients and their optimal treatment. We provide customized clinical plans that include comprehensive approaches to addressing each patient's type of IBD.
Our surgeons are highly skilled in minimally invasive surgical techniques including laparoscopy and robotics, while our team of radiologists have extensive experience reviewing CT scan and MRIs in complex IBD patients. The approaches our gastroenterology colleagues offer include advanced endoscopy and capsule endoscopy, and such medical treatments as various biologics, metabolites, and combination therapy. The center also has wound ostomy nurses who can adapt care for patients with stomas.
In addition to our clinical service, the Emory Crohn's and Colitis Center is conducting pioneering research, including the development of fecal transplants and novel therapeutic clinical trials. We are part of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Surgery Research Network, a consortium of more than 60 research centers dedicated to expediting clinical studies in IBD patients undergoing surgery. The focus of this network is to address important clinical issues that can advance the surgical care of IBD patients.
