2024 National Doctors' Day

Join us in celebrating our Doctors’ Day featured faculty on social media by using the hashtags #EmoryDoctorsDay2024 and #EmoryMed

In recognition of Doctors' Day, the Emory School of Medicine Recognitions Committee sent out a call for nominations for doctors across the School of Medicine who go above and beyond. More than 200 Emory faculty members were nominated by their peers and colleagues for their dedication to improving the health and well-being of our patients and community through the care they provide, the research they conduct and their efforts to teach and inspire learners.

The committee reviewed each nomination and selected those who exemplify the outstanding faculty of the Emory School of Medicine. The quotes below were taken from the nomination materials.

Department of Medicine Nader Aboujamous Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital

Dr. Nader Aboujamous's positive attitude is contagious. His ability to connect with colleagues and patients alike, as well as his ability to provide excellent patient care, makes him a valuable asset to ESJH. He would make an incredible leader one day, as he somehow balances his clinical duties, extracurricular work activities (he is on numerous committees) and family life seamlessly. He is always calm and collected even during a complex situation. He looks at issues from every angle before making an informed decision. He is never judgmental, gives feedback in the most professional way and always try to see the best in everyone, which are all qualities of a great leader.

Dr. Melissa Adams is always patient and kind and deftly calms worried parents. Her private practice patients adore her, and she goes above and beyond to make sure that they are assigned to see her if at all possible. She models excellence in patient care with teaching of medical students and residents. She comes to work with a cheerful, can-do attitude that positively impacts her patients and everyone in clinic.

Department of Surgery Hanna Alemayehu Children's Healthcare of Atlanta

Dr. Hanna Alemayehu has been a game changer since her hire, personally elevating the care delivered at CHOA Scottish Rite over the past 2 years. In the NICU, she piloted a refeeding program that was long overdue and has improved nutritional outcomes for the babies. In adolescents, she has personally developed a chest wall malformation clinic that has elevated the care delivery to cutting edge for safety and outcomes. She has also reinvigorated the robotic surgery program, a long overdue addition.

Dr. Shirine Allam is a clinical expert and leader in ILD. Her compassion and dedication for her patients is evident in the countless hours she spends not just in clinic, but after hours, helping patients obtain transplant referrals across the country, assisting colleagues who are taking care of them when they are admitted, and ensuring her patients have what they need to lead quality lives. Dr. Allam is a committed educator, teaching trainees and colleagues about ILD so that high quality care continues.

Dr. Caitlin Bradley has had a major impact on clinical care across Grady's division of anesthesiology. She is Grady's chief of cardiothoracic anesthesiology and leads our point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) team, performing a high volume of perioperative ultrasounds. She also coordinates care of our obstetric patients with high-risk cardiac conditions.

Dr. Chandan Devireddy is an interventional cardiologist with specialized expertise in complex minimally invasive procedures for severe coronary atherosclerotic disease, peripheral vascular disease, and structural heart disease and who is focused on delivering the most effective, appropriate, and quality care. Recently, after over 10 years of dedication and effort, he performed the first FDA-approved procedure for renal denervation in the Southeast for management of resistant hypertension.
