Academic Appointment

  • Associate Professor of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, Emory University

Education

Degrees

  • MD from Rush Medical College, Rush University
  • BA from Boston University

Research

Focus

  • Dr. Nandwana is an abdominal imaging and interventions radiologist who began her research endeavors doing basic science research. Her scholarly work led to the discovery of the perforin gene genetic defect to be responsible for the rare disease of familial hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. Dr. Nandwanas work subsequently extended to transgenic mice screening and breeding and investigated the NK cell 2B4 receptor and its role in T cell cytotoxicity.
