Program Description
The New Leader Onboarding program was designed to ensure new (including interim) department chairs and division directors have all the information needed to be successful in their new leadership role. It consists of a series of onboarding modules covering important areas including education, faculty development, promotion and tenure, faculty policies, human resources, research administration, finance/budgeting, and more. Participation in this program is by invite only.
Process
When a new leader (department chair or division director) is announced, they will receive a welcome email from the Office of Faculty Academic Affairs and Professional Development inviting them to participate in the program.
New leaders are expected to complete each onboarding modules within their first 6 months to 1 year from their new role start date.
Onboarding Modules
Onboarding modules are scheduled as 1:1 or group trainings (if more than 1 new leader onboarding at a time) and are held via Zoom. The module accountable leader and team will present an overview of their office and discuss important key elements.
