Aaron Trammell MD, MSc
Overview
Dr. Trammell grew up in North Carolina and attended medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt. During his fellowship training, Dr. Trammell developed an interest in pulmonary hypertension. He studied the interactions of metabolism and pulmonary hypertension in transgenic mice and cell-based models (Dr. Anna Hemnes, mentor). Dr. Trammell received further clinical training in pulmonary hypertension in Houston, Texas, before joining the faculty at Emory in 2015.
Dr. Trammell is dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients with pulmonary hypertension. He sees patients at The Emory Clinic, Emory University Hospitals medical ICU, and inpatient Advanced Lung Disease services. He is also committed to improving care of pulmonary hypertension through research. Dr. Trammell has completed research training at Emory and has a Master's degree in clinical research. His current research is focused on understanding the relationship between energy metabolism and pulmonary hypertension in patients with PAH and those with lung disease. The overarching goal of this work is to evaluate whether metabolic therapies can be exploited to improve the outcome of patients with pulmonary hypertension.
