Assistant Professor
Dr. Janowczyk is an assistant professor in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Emory University and Georgia Tech. He also is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute and the Emory Precision AI for Health Institute of Emory University.
He is focused on developing image-based biomarkers for the prediction of diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy responsiveness of diseases including cancer, kidney disease, and cardiac allograft rejection. He is involved in developing an open-source digital pathology suite termed HistoTools to facilitate quantitative quality control, rapid annotation and labeling, and cohort discovery. An expert in machine and deep learning as well as image analysis, he is the co-founder and secretary of the Swiss Digital Pathology Consortium.
Dr. Janowczyk earned his PhD in biomedical image analysis at Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, Mumbai, India. He received his Master's degree in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
