The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences' faculty members are highly talented clinicians, scientists, and educators whose accomplishments garner well-earned accolades. Being recognized for going above and beyond is an important component of the faculty experience, which is why we not only sponsor the annual Emory Radiology Faculty and Staff Awards, we also actively promote faculty nominations for institutional, regional, national and international honors and awards.

Our staff members coordinate the nomination process for awards outside the department to optimize the success of nominations.

Emory University Awards

Corporate Partnership Award 2026 - Hari Trivedi, MD

Dr. Trivedi earned the Emory Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) Corporate Partnership Award for his central role in advancing Emory’s academic–industry collaborations in AI. Through his leadership in AI-driven imaging research, he has been instrumental in connecting OTT with industry partners and enabling multiple data and AI model licensing agreements that support AI research. By proactively aligning Emory’s research capabilities with industry needs, Dr. Trivedi has helped translate innovation into impactful partnerships aligned with Emory University’s translational mission.

Innovation of the Year Award 2023 - Phillip Zhe Sun, PhD

Dr. Phil Sun received this award for developing quantitive steady state (QUASS) analysis as a way to standardize chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), with the goal of enabling highly specific and accurate CEST quantification. Dr. Sun has advanced discoveries related to QUASS development to improve post-image processing. Some of them include the extension of QUASS for fast multi-slab multi-slice CEST MRI. In addition, Dr. Sun has developed an intravoxel correction of CEST MRI and spectroscopy, dubbed the CIVIC approach.

Startup of the Year 2023: J. David Prologo, MD, FSIR

Emory OTT honored Focused Cryo and its co-founder John David Prologo, MD, for developing a new, easier to use cryoablation system that provides instant feedback and improved directional control. Focused Cryo's proprietary technology would deliver a treatment that is safer and more effective. In 2022, Focused Cryo entered into an exclusive license agreement with Emory University for their innovations.

The Emory University School of Medicine offers two types of honors. Faculty may be peer-nominated for recognition as part of National Doctors' Day, Educator Appreciation Day, and Research Appreciation Day.

Faculty also may be nominated for more than a dozen awards given annually as part of Faculty Recognitions Week in October. Emory Radiology faculty have received numorous honors each year.
