Athan Tiliakos MD
Overview
Dr. Tiliakos obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University in 1999. In 2004, he graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He underwent his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine (2004-2008) at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he also served as a Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Tiliakos underwent fellowship training at Emory University between 2008-2010.
Dr. Tiliakos is currently involved in clinical trials and epidemiologic research projects relating to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Eryematosus, with a particular interest in health disparities and their effects on disease outcomes.
Dr. Tiliakos is involved in teaching in the School of Medicine. He regularly lectures to the students at various allied health departments and to trainees throughout the departments of the School of Medicine. He is particularly involved in clinical education at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Tiliakos' clinical work is primarily based at the Emory Clinic at Emory University Hospital. He also attends the Grady Rheumatology Clinic and is heavily involved in the Rheumatology consult service. Additionally, Dr. Tilakos serves as the Director of the Rheumatology Fellowship Program.

- My focus in research is predominately related to health disparities and their contributions to auto-immune disease (particularly Rheumatoid Arthritis).
