About the DOM's Ease of Research Initiative

These events are created to help remove the obstacles—both big challenges and everyday micro‑hurdles—that researchers often encounter. Whether you participate in a town hall, attend a focused special session, or drop in during office hours, each offering is designed to make conducting research at Emory easier and more efficient. Our goal is to provide clear guidance, direct access to experts, and practical solutions that support you at every stage of the research process. By fostering open dialogue and providing real‑time assistance, we aim to streamline workflows, reduce administrative burden, and empower our research community to focus on what matters most: advancing discovery.

Ease of Research Events

Office Hours

These are informal, no-agenda sessions intended to help navigate processes, clarify next steps, and remove small barriers before they slow progress. Faculty are welcome to drop in with questions at any stage of the research lifecycle. These can be early ideas, grants, IRB, compliance, timelines, students, or anything that feels like a bottleneck. No preparation is needed. The goal is to save time, clarify pathways, and keep research moving.

Office Hours will be offered on alternating weeks via Zoom:

Week 1: Group Research Office Hours: Open drop-in sessions for group discussion; all are welcome.
Week 2: One-on-one Research Navigation Appointments: Pre-booked individual appointments for sensitive or project-specific issues. Note: a time slot reservation is required in advance.

Special Sessions

Friday, February 20
This session offers a high-level overview of the SciENcv system, with a focus on entering and managing other support. Faculty are encouraged to actively participate by sharing their experiences, questions, and best practices using the system. The session will be interactive, with an opportunity to exchange practical tips and tricks to support effective and efficient use of SciENcv.

Ease of Research Town Halls

Hosted on an ad‑hoc Friday schedule, this series features leadership from Emory’s major research regulatory offices, programs, and resources.

Through these sessions, DOM faculty, staff, and trainees gain insight into current operations and long‑term plans, while also contributing meaningful feedback on the impact these units have on their research activities.
