Program Overview
Welcome from the Program Director
Welcome to the Emory Combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Program!
We are thrilled to have you explore our unique and dynamic program, the only Med/Peds program in the state of Georgia! At Emory, we take pride in offering an exceptional training experience that prepares our residents to excel in both internal medicine and pediatrics.
Our program provides diverse clinical opportunities across three distinguished organizations: Emory University Hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Grady Health System. Each of our training sites offers a unique patient population and a wide array of clinical and research opportunities to ensure our residents gain comprehensive and robust training. The Emory University Hospital system is renowned for its cutting-edge research and specialized care, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is the only freestanding children’s healthcare organization in Georgia, and Grady Memorial Hospital is a vital safety-net center with a deep history and commitment to serving the underserved.
Our program partners closely with two well-established and robust residency training programs: The Emory General Pediatrics Residency and J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency. These partnerships ensure our Med/Peds trainees are integrated into the categorical programs and will have full access to resources in both departments, while maintaining their own unique Med/Peds identity.
Atlanta, a vibrant and diverse city, offers endless opportunities for personal and professional growth. From its rich cultural scene and historic neighborhoods to its booming healthcare and biomedical research sectors, Atlanta is a city that provides trainees with the ability to enjoy life in and out of the hospital, regardless of their interests.
We are excited to welcome residents who share our dedication to clinical excellence, compassionate care, and advocacy. Thank you for considering the Emory Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Program. We look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey to becoming a skilled and compassionate Med/Peds physician.
Warmly,
Katie Gielissen, MD, MHS-MedEd
