Training Sites

Note: On September 29, 2024, all care at Egelston will be transitioned to the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital, a state-of-the art facility which provides residents with unparalleled training opportunities.  See the AMBH website for additional information.  

Currently located adjacent to the Emory campus, Egleston Hospital at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is a 330-bed hospital with over 70,000 ED visits and over 84,000 inpatient days. Founded in 1928 as the Henrietta Egleston Hospital for Children, it has served as Emory University’s pediatric teaching affiliate since 1956.  

Egleston offers a full complement of subspecialty services, including organ and bone marrow transplantation. ICU facilities include a dedicated Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and ECMO capabilities in the PICU, NICU, and CICU.  

Residents rotate through the General Pediatrics and Subspecialty Inpatient Wards, PICU, and the Emergency Department.  

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta(CHOA) at Hughes Spalding, located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, is a 24-bed pediatric hospital with over 60,000 emergency department visits annually. Originally established in 1952, it became part of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in 2006, and serves as a primary pediatric teaching affiliate for Emory University. 

Hughes Spalding provides comprehensive pediatric services, including primary care, specialty care, and emergency care. The hospital is dedicated to providing high-quality care to the children of Atlanta and the surrounding communities.  

Residents rotate through the General Pediatrics Wards, Emergency Department, and outpatient subspecialty clinics. 

Emory University Hospital, located on the Emory University campus in Atlanta, Georgia, is a renowned 733-bed academic medical center with over 29,000 admissions annually. Established in 1904, it has been a cornerstone of Emory University’s healthcare system and a leading teaching affiliate for its School of Medicine.  

Emory University Hospital offers comprehensive services, including advanced cardiology, oncology, neurology, and transplant programs. The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a dedicated Stroke Center and specialized ICUs such as the Cardiac ICU and Medical ICU.

Residents rotate through the General Medicine and Subspecialty Inpatient Wards, MICU, and various subspecialty rotations. 

Emory University Hospital Midtown, located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, is a 511-bed acute care teaching hospital. Originally founded in 1908 as the Wesley Memorial Hospital, it became part of the Emory Healthcare system in 2005.  

Emory University Hospital Midtown offers a full spectrum of services, including advanced cardiology, oncology, and women’s health. The hospital is home to a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), specialized ICUs, and a comprehensive stroke center. Emory Midtown is committed to providing patient-centered care and serves as a key training site for Emory University School of Medicine. 

Residents rotate through the General Medicine Wards, Subspecialty Wards, and subspecialty ambulatory clinics. 

Grady Memorial Hospital, located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, is one of the largest public hospitals in the U.S. with 953 beds. Established in 1892, Grady is a leading academic medical center and a primary teaching hospital for Emory University School of Medicine. 

Grady Memorial Hospital offers a wide range of services, including a renowned Level I trauma center, comprehensive burn center, stroke center, and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is equipped with specialized ICUs, a cutting-edge cancer center, and extensive outpatient services. Around 3000 newborns are delivered annually at Grady and it also serves as the Regional Perinatal Center for North Georgia. 

Residents rotate through the General Medicine and Subspecialty Inpatient Wards, MICU, Emergency Department, NICU, and Well-Baby Nursery.
