ERAS Common Application FormĀ
- Curriculum Vitae
- Dean’s Letter (MSPE)
- We prefer four (4) letters of recommendation; ideally, this should include (1) pediatric departmental letter, (1) internal medicine departmental letter, (1) letter from a faculty member who has worked with you clinically (can be internal medicine, pediatrics, or med/peds), and (1) letter from a supervisor who knows you well (can be from clinical or non-clinical experiences). We accept three (3) letters if special circumstances do not permit a student to identify four letter writers (at least one of these three letters should be a departmental letter).
- Personal Statement
- Photograph
- Medical School Transcripts
- USMLE Transcripts or COMLEX Transcripts
International applicants
Our program sponsors both H1-B and J-1 visas.
- We strongly recommend a minimum of one month of hands-on direct clinical experience in a US or Canadian-accredited teaching hospital. Observerships or externships without direct clinical responsibility for patients do not meet criteria for direct clinical experience.
- Applicants from medical schools located outside the US and Canada must have graduated from medical school in the last six years.
- Applicants must have passed USMLE Step I & II Knowledge tests.
- USMLE Step 3 is not required to apply.
- Applicants must be fluent in spoken and written English.
- Applicants must be eligible for an ECFMG Certificate.
Interview Details
Our program follows recommendations from the Med/Peds Program Directors Association (MPPDA) regarding timing for interview invites. Therefore, we send out our first round of interview invitations on the date recommended by the MPPDA each year.
For the recruitment cycle 2024-2025, interview invitations will go out on or after October 8. Interview invitations will be sent on a rolling basis until December 15 of each year.
Our program follows the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) and Association for Pediatric Program Director (APPD) recommendations to conduct all interviews virtually. While we recognize virtual recruitment events are a different experience from in-person, we are committed to equity, transparency, and ensuring all applicants have a similar experience. Faculty who participate in the interview process have completed training on strategies to mitigate implicit bias during interviews.
The Emory Med/Peds program engages in values-oriented recruitment, a method that strives to find alignment between resident values with the program’s mission. We are interested in recruiting residents whose interests and experiences enhance the mission of our program and whose actions mirror the values of the communities we serve. We encourage applicants to reflect on our mission statement and how training in our program might align with their specific goals.
