Although the Emory Transitional Radiology Preliminary Program (PGY-1) is administered by the Emory Transitional Year Internship program, the application process for the two programs is different.
The two programs have different numbers in the NRMP match. Please use the Transitional Radiology Preliminary Program NRMP number 1113999P3 when you make your secondary rank list for Emory Diagnostic Radiology Residency.
You traditionally cannot match into the Emory Transitional Radiology Preliminary Program if do not match to Emory for either diagnostic or interventional radiology residency. That said, there is no guarantee you will secure a position in the Emory Transitional Radiology Preliminary Program even if you do match to either the Emory Diagnostic Radiology or Interventional Radiology Integrated residency programs. With candidates for both programs vying for positions, the internship program is highly competitive. Please include alternative internship programs on your secondary rank list.
To be considered for the Transitional Radiology Preliminary Program, you still must send an application through ERAS to the main Transitional Year Internship Program (NRMP number 1113999P0), even though you technically are not applying to the main transitional year program. It is the only way to assure all of the information needed for your internship is available to the main Transitional Year Internship Program should you match to the Transitional Radiology Preliminary Program. You do not need to interview separately with the main Emory Transitional Year Internship Program. Your Emory Radiology interview is sufficient.
If you want to rank the main Emory Transitional Year Internship (non-radiology focus) on any secondary list, use the main Transitional Year Internship (NRMP number 1113999P0) below the Transitional Radiology Preliminary Program (NRMP number 1113999P3) if you want to be considered for both.
