Dr Joseph Carpenter Leads Emory Arm of SAMHSA Grant
The American College of Medical Toxicology has been awarded a $500,000 grant to advance the incorporation of substance use disorder education into healthcare education curricula. Eleven emergency medicine residency programs will participate in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) two-year program. Emory's will be led by Dr. Josepth Carpenter, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Attending Physician at Grady Memorial Hospital. Dr. Carpenter recently joined the Emory EM faculty after completing a fellowship in Medical Toxicology at Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control.
