Message from the Chair

On behalf of the faculty and staff, welcome to the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Emory University School of Medicine.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our patients, the careers of our students and residents, the safety of our community, and the health of the world through our contributions in clinical service, teaching, innovation, and research. We strive to provide high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care to all our patients.

The Emory University Department of Emergency Medicine provides care to over 300,000 patients annually in five metro Atlanta Emergency Departments including the region's primary Level 1 trauma center at Grady Memorial Hospital. As part of our ongoing commitment to the development of locally relevant emergency care systems, our department provides expertise in public health, injury prevention, neurotrauma research, disaster management, pre-hospital care and emergency medical services, toxicology, emergency health system management, telemedicine, and clinical emergency medicine.

The team has a vanguard role in telemedicine and health design’s nascent arenas. Our vision revolves around revolutionizing how patients interface with the healthcare system, ensuring holistic care anytime, anywhere. Simultaneously, we’re sculpting the future by preparing budding clinicians to assimilate tech-centric care and novel care paradigms. Emory EM is at the forefront championing technology’s potency in enhancing accessibility and ensuring care delivery remains seamless—whether you’re at home, work, or on the move.

Through pioneering ventures like the Health DesignED, TeleEMS, and Clinical Decision Units (CDUs), Emory Emergency Medicine is reshaping patient-healthcare dynamics. Our unwavering commitment is to harness these innovations enhancing patient experiences and ensuring optimal outcomes.
