About Emory's Global Health in Emergency Medicine Section (GHEMS)
Global Health in Emergency Medicine Section (GHEMS) is a subspecialty of Emory Emergency Medicine that helps develop the specialty of EM internationally, provides emergency care internationally, organizes disaster and humanitarian response and performs global health research.
Emory's GHEMS has strong relationships with partners, including the Rollins School of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other global partners. In alignment with the mission and vision of the Emory Department of Emergency Medicine and the Emory University School of Medicine, the GHEMS was established in the fall of 2018 to strategically codify and support the global health activities of faculty, staff, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and residents. Our faculty work all over the world to advance the specialty of Global Emergency Medicine through development and education projects, and provision of acute care, humanitarian response, and research.
2023 Global Research Summit
The symposium took place on October 17, 2023 in the Steiner Auditorium on the Grady campus. The event highlighted the work supported by the GHEMS Project Grants. Visiting scholars also presented their Global Health work.
