Laboratory for Neurobiology of Psychiatric Disorders

The research of the Laboratory for Neurobiology of Psychiatric Disorders centers on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, major depression and autism spectrum disorder. In particular, we are interested in understanding the biological functions of causal/risk genetic and environmental factors in neuropsychiatric disorders, identifying pathological developmental processes that may contribute to the etiology of these complex diseases, and translating such knowledge into therapeutic targets for developing novel treatments. To achieve these goals, our research employs a combination of cutting-edge technologies, including human induced-pluripotent stem cells, genome editing, differentiation of specific cell types in the brain and 3-D brain organoids, as well as molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular/cellular imaging, electrophysiology, next-generation sequencing, and high-throughput screening.
