The July issue of Atlanta Magazine recently announced the results of its annual 'Top Doctors' survey. And it was another banner year for the Emory Eye Center and the Emory School of Medicine.
Almost 40 percent of the 1,188 physicians recognized are associated with Emory - throuugh Emory Healthcare, Emory Healthcare Network, Emory medical staff, or faculty of Emory University School of Medicine
Seven of those physicians are part of the Emory Department of Ophthalmology, a team that annually conducts more 100,000 exams, surgeries, check-ups, and tests at the Emory Eye Center.
Heading that list is Dr. Allen Beck, the F. Phinizy Calhoun Sr. Chair and Director of the Emory Eye Center and a respected glaucoma specialist. Joining him are Dr. Maria Aaron, Dr. Soroosh Behshad, Dr. Valerie Biousse, Dr. G. Baker Hubbard, III, Dr. Jason Peragallo, and Dr. Ted Wojno.
To compile this year's list of Top Doctors,
a private research firm located in Troy, Michigan, conducted an online peer-reviewed survey of all licensed physicians in the Metro Atlanta area. Physicians were asked to nominate fellow physicians whom they deemed to be the best in their fields of practice. More than 10,000 votes were cast. Nominations were then screened, verified, and reviewed by that firm. Doctors cannot pay to be considered for this honor.
