A focus on treatment and prevention
The Uveitis & Vasculitis Section at the Emory Department of Ophthalmology is committed to both treating and determining the cause of inflammatory eye conditions. Faculty have expertise and experience managing all forms of uveitis, including anterior, intermediate, posterior, panuveitis, vasulitis, and scleritis. A strong emphasis is placed on treating conditions unresponsive to topical anti-inflammatory treatments. The faculty are trained to employ state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic measures and to work closely with the department's Clinical Trials Program to offer patient access to promising new treatment modalities.
Clinicians, residents, and fellows create a network of care that allows the Emory Eye Center to offer one-time consultations and long-term care to one of the largest caseloads in the Southeast. Cross-collaboration with specialists from other departments is de rigeur. The Uveitis & Vasculitis Section regularly consults with rheumatologists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists, oncologists, infectious diseases experts and obstetrical clinicians to provide comprehensive short- and long-term patient care. There is a particularly strong relationship with colleagues from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
