Machelle T. Pardue named to endowed chair
Machelle T. Pardue, PhD, the vice chair and director of the Research Division of the Emory Department of Ophthalmology, has recently been selected for the Lilla Mae Stanton Walthour and Lena Stanton DeLaPerriere Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology.
This chair was created through estate gifts of two sisters, Lilla Mae Walthour and Lena Stanton DeLaPerriere to support the department's commitment to excellence in research and education. The previous holder of this chair was Dr. Geoffrey Broocker, a former and now retired residency education director at the Emory Eye Center.
A longtime collaborator with the Department of Ophthalmology, Pardue officially joined the Research Division in January of 2023, when the previous director, John Nickerson, PhD, announced his intention to retire.
