Jonathan Waltuck MD
Overview
New York transplant Dr. Jonathan Waltuck received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Brooklyn in 1986. This was followed by his internship and residency (including a year as chief resident) in internal medicine at St. Lukes/Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. He then completed his rheumatology fellowship at New York University in New York City in 1993. During his fellowship, he worked with Dr. Jill Buyon, a nationally recognized lupus expert. Their collaboration resulted in several scholarly papers on the topic of neonatal lupus.
In July of 1993, Dr. Waltuck and his family relocated to Atlanta, and he joined the Emory University School of Medicine faculty as an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Rheumatology. In 1999, he assumed the role of service chief of rheumatology at Emory University Hospital. In 2003, he was promoted to associate professor of medicine. From 2000-2010, Dr. Waltuck served as program director of the rheumatology fellowship program.
He has received several teaching commendations from Emorys J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program and the Emory Physicians Assistant training program. He has also been named as one of Atlantas Top Doctors by Atlanta magazine.
Dr. Waltuck has remained a constant in the division for more than 20 years. He is the face of Emory Rheumatology for many practitioners at the Emory Clinic as well as throughout Georgia.
Dr. Waltucks particular clinical interests include lupus, vasculitis, and scleroderma.
