Pathways for Faculty Development in Education
Mentorship
Mentorship contributes significantly to job performance and satisfaction. The Emory Division of Hospital Medicine is committed to promoting strong mentoring relationships for Division faculty.
Mentor-Mentee Pairs
We assist all newly hired hospitalists who are interested in mentorship to be paired with a mentor within six months of hire. The mentee-mentor pair meets at least three times per year to create goals and review progression towards existing goals. The mentor reviews the Mentees CV at least once a year. Each hospitalist is encouraged to seek a mentor that he/she believes will respect and promote their professional growth.
Group Mentorship
Some individuals prefer the group setting. We offer group mentoring for those interested in an informal relationship. The goals of group mentoring are to field early career questions and help navigate your career path. Group mentors are site specific cohorts and meet a few times a year.

Faculty Development Awards
Faculty can submit proposals in early spring and early fall of each year describing how their training experience will develop their career and contribute to the goals of the Division. The Faculty Development Program awards approximately 10-15% of faculty within the Division yearly. In fiscal year 2017-2018 the Division awarded more than $80,000 in faculty development grants.
