An innovative project called “IMPROVE” (Integrated Management and Polypharmacy Review of Vulnerable Elders), represents patient-centered, evidence-based medicine doing what it does best – high-value, integrated patient care that improves health outcomes and reduces health care costs. Full article
It Often Starts with a Fall
Emory research gerontologist Ann Vandenberg, PhD is working on solutions to a common accident that often begins a downward spiral in the health of older adults - falls. Her projects EQUiPPED and INFORMED are researching ways to assess risks, including inappropriate medications and environments hazards, and decrease falls. Full article

Researchers within Geriatrics and Gerontology serve as investigators within several funded centers across campus including: the Atlanta VA Center for Visual and Neurocognitive Rehabilitation, the VA-funded Birmingham/Atlanta Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC), the John A. Hartford Foundation funded Southeast Center of Excellence in Geriatric Medicine (SCEGM), the NIA P-50 Alzheimer's Disease Research Center within the Department of Neurology, and the Emory Center for AIDS Research.
The Emory Center for Health in Aging has stimulated active research collaborations and is funded by the Woodruff Health Sciences Center and a HRSA Geriatric Education Center grant.
