The Emory University Brain, Stress, Hypertension and Aging Research Program (B-SHARP) is a collaborative team of investigators and research personnel that aim to better understand the relationship between brain health and the cardiovascular system, focusing on aging and hypertension.
The Neurokinesiology lab's focus is on developing physical rehabilitative strategies with high compliance while enhancing balance, mobility, cognition and quality of life and reducing fall risk for older adults with and without neurological disorders. Dr. Madeleine Hackney and team study interventions' motor patterns and timing, dosage, and overall efficacy.
The research in the Plantinga lab focuses on multidisciplinary approaches to enhancing the quality of care among underserved patients with chronic diseases. The lab is particularly interested in improving patient-centered outcomes among those with chronic kidney disease, end-stage renal disease, and lupus.
