Adopt a Resident

The Emory Department of Emergency Medicine continues to grow and thrive. Our residents rotate through state-of-the-art facilities at Emory University Hospital Clifton, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, Children's Hospital of Atlanta at Scottish Rite and Grady Memorial Hospital.

While the faculty has grown to over 100 physicians and the department is rated number one in the country in federal research dollars, the Grady ER remains the heart and soul of the department.

We have outstanding residents who chose to train at Emory/Grady, where they graduate with a strong foundation in education, research, service/advocacy, and wellness/resiliency. But there is still a lot we can do to make this a stronger academic program. Recently, we expanded the resident's international opportunities and made our service projects more robust.

Our current goal is to be able to send every resident to a major conference every year. The “Adopt-A-Resident” campaign will allow a resident to attend GCEP, SAEM, and ACEP over the course of her/his residency. Smaller donations will allow residents to attend at least one of these important meetings.

Your help can make a huge impact!

Where will your funds go?

Your support will allow our residents to attend one of the following conferences:

GCEP (Georgia College of Emergency Physicians)

The Georgia Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians is an association of more than 500 emergency medicine physicians. GCEP meets annually and promotes the highest standards of
patient care throughout the state of Georgia through its advocacy and leadership efforts. Residents would be eligible to attend this meeting. The cost for one resident to attend is $800.

SAEM (Society for Academic Emergency Medicine)

SAEM is the premier organization for high-quality research and educational innovation in emergency care. It creates and promotes scientific discovery and the advancement of education. PGY2 residents will be eligible to attend this meeting. The cost for one resident to attend is $1,200.

ACEP (American College of Emergency Physicians) or AAEM (American Academy of Emergency Medicine)

ACEP is the largest emergency medicine organization in the world. Members work to provide resources to help physicians develop and improve current skills. AAEM is a democratic organization committed to many emergency medicine global principles. PGY3 residents will be eligible to attend one of these meetings. The cost for one resident to attend is $1,800.
