The Division of Physical Therapy at Emory University has a well-respected and highly productive interdisciplinary research program. The Division’s researchers collaborate nationally and internationally with top scientists at Emory, the Shepherd Center, Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, the Atlanta VA and with other national and international researchers. Primary areas of research include gait biomechanics, human movement across the lifespan, rehabilitation of movement dysfunction, neural plasticity, patient-centered outcomes, health services research and ethical reasoning. Studies aim to improve the clinical care of many patient populations including: stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, orthopedic and sports medicine injuries, people living with HIV and other chronic conditions.
