JJ graduated with distinction from the University of Colorado, where he majored in Psychology with a minor in Italian. After spending several years working as an EMT and as a medical scribe, he continued his education at Emory University School of Medicine. During medical school, JJ consistently demonstrated his commitment to caring for underserved and disadvantaged patient populations. He regularly volunteered in the Good Samaritan Health Clinic and the Clarkston Community Mental Health Clinic. He conducted research investigating the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in patients with schizophrenia at the Grady Behavioral Health Clinic. In his spare time, JJ enjoys being with his family, enjoying the outdoors, running marathons, reading, and cooking.
