Why Emory: I couldn't have chosen a better place to train, between the diverse patient population, faculty truly invested in teaching, and full breadth of urology we get to experience here. Plus, Atlanta is a great place to live!

Why Emory? Emory is the only academic and residency program in a city as large as Atlanta. Emory also provides excellent surgical training through both a tertiary care center and a high-acuity community hospital. The combination of Emory University Hospital and Grady Memorial Hospital makes Emory unique. The size of the coverage area translates into a wide variety of disease presentation and pathology. Additionally, Atlanta is a great and lively city where there's always something to do, and the food is great. However, probably the most important reason I chose Emory is because of the people! I felt connected with the residents during my interview time. It was nice to see how close they were with each other. The friendship bonds plus a great training program in a beautiful city is what makes my every day job enjoyable.
-
5-year plan: Survive this pandemic and global warming! Also finishing training and being able to help out my patients.
-
Interests within urology: Urologic oncology.
-
Hobbies: Tennis, chess (we can play virtually and I will win!).
-
What would you be doing if not urology? Web design or perhaps a chef (a good one!) in a Persian restaurant!
-
Random fact: I got face to face with a massive Canadian moose while kayaking in a shallow river in Algonquin National Park, Ontario... and the moose was the one who ran away!!

Why Emory? Emory has the unique situation of being the only academic center with a urology program in a major metropolitan area. This ensures we see a large variety of cases and have a surplus of cases for residents to assist with. Atlanta itself is a beautiful and blossoming city with a large variety of neighborhoods. I have grown to love it.
