Satyen Tipathi's Work Recognized at AMI Annual Meeting
JULY 2019
Satyen Tripathi, board-certified medical illustrator for the Emory Department of Surgery, won an Award of Merit at the 74th Annual Conference of the Association of Medical Illustrators, held July 25-28 in Milwaukee, WI.
The award was granted to acknowledge the conceptual and technical quality of Mr. Tripathi's "Real. Genuine. Heart.", an illustration commemorating a series of philanthropic gifts from Genuine Parts Company (GPC) to the Carlyle Fraser Heart Center of Emory University.
The illustration depicts a heart composed of automotive parts and machinery, celebrating both the identity of GPC as an auto parts distributor and the spirit of its donations to the center. The final presentation of the illustration was a framed, 18" x 24" letterpress print to be displayed in GPC's corporate offices.
Mr. Tripathi joined Emory Surgery in 2014, and has developed patient education materials for the Emory Transplant Center, surgical protocol packages for the Wound Infection Group of Emory University Hospital, web interactives for the division of cardiothoracic surgery, and animations for the division of colorectal surgery. His current projects include developing a series of animations for the division of surgical oncology and researching the efficacy of different visualization styles for patients.
