Three faculty members from the Department of Radiation Oncology were honored in June 2018 with its inaugural Faculty Teaching Awards for the 2017-2018 academic year. Recipients of the annual award include: David Yu, MD, PhD in Cancer Biology, Mark McDonald, MD in Medical Affairs, and Eduard Schreibmann, PhD in Medical Physics. They were selected by the current resident trainees based on their excellence in teaching.
"The faculty teaching awards are voted upon annually by the residents and designed to recognize enthusiastic and engaging educators who are committed to residency learning. While many faculty were worthy of the award last year, the winners continue to personify these qualities through their dedication to clinical education and thoughtful mentorship," stated Chief Resident Bob Press, MD.
According to Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD, executive director of Winship Cancer Institute and chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology, "The Faculty Teaching Award embodies Winship's dedication to aligning research and education with clinical care. Award recipients demonstrate exceptional leadership, conduct innovative and collaborative research, and provide comprehensive medical training to our residents."
