The Emory Neurodevelopment and Exposure Clinic
The Emory Neurodevelopment and Exposure Clinic, a part of the Center for Maternal Substance Abuse and Child Development in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, provides diagnosis and treatment to children, 0 to 21 years old, who have a history of prenatal exposure and developmental/behavioral problems. The clinic takes a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and is staffed by a pediatric geneticist, an educational specialist, clinical and pediatric psychologists and psychiatry fellows. During visits to the diagnostic clinic, children are seen by a variety of specialists who work together to diagnosis the effects of prenatal exposure to alcohol, drugs of abuse, prescription medications and other conditions. In addition, we provide treatment planning, referrals, educational testing and intervention, parent coaching and behavioral intervention. Patients can also arrange for a consultation with one or more specialists to discuss specific concerns about a child. The Clinic is supported through grants from the Department of Behavior Health and Developmental Disabilities and private donors, and accepts most insurance plans.
