She/Her/Hers
After graduating with honors and a degree in philosophy from New York University, Margaret spent three years pursuing research interests, including exploring the relationship between Alzheimer’s Disease biomarkers and sleep disordered breathing in the elderly. Her research culminated in six peer-reviewed publications. At SUNY Downstate, she showed a strong commitment to medical education as a member of the Medical Educator Pathway. She has volunteered her time teaching clinical skills to underclassmen as part of Downstate’s Near Peer Education program and orienting underclassmen to their third-year Psychiatry clerkship. She implemented the addition of a creative section for humanistic reflection and expression in a student-run medical education blog, for which she received an award for “Best of Cool Ideas” at USC’s Innovations in Medical Education Conference. Margaret also has a strong interest in global health. She spent a summer providing medical care to underserved communities in the mountains of Cacha in Ecuador between her first and second years of medical school.
