What drew you to the PA profession?
Spending each summer with my grandparents in rural Georgia was a core part of my childhood, but it was not until later in my life, when my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer, that I began to understand the impact of healthcare access in rural communities. While my grandpa was undergoing treatment, I saw firsthand the effect of introducing PAs into a community where resources were previously limited. I was inspired to learn how PAs bridged gaps in care, developed relationships with their patients, and ensured patient questions did not go unanswered. That experience witnessing the role PAs played in supporting my grandparents throughout my grandpa’s care motivates me to make a similar impact for my future patients with a focus around connection, compassion, and quality patient education.
