The purpose of the interview day at the Emory PA program is to assure a good match between the program and the candidate while allowing candidates an opportunity to learn more about the program.

Length of Interview Day

The interview day begins at 7:30 am with check-in and ends at 3:00 pm.

Format of Interviews

Emory PA interviews are conducted in the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format used at many PA programs and Medical Schools in the US. The MMIs assess:

  • Communication skills
  • Understanding of medical ethical issues or health policy
  • Problem-solving
  • Maturity
  • Attitudes
  • Interpersonal skills.

The MMIs are not used to assess a candidate’s medical knowledge.

Student Life and Campus Tour

In addition to the MMIs, candidates will interact with didactic and clinical year PA students who will share information about student life. There is devoted time for questions and a tour of Emory’s campus.

Admissions Process

The Emory PA program has a rolling admissions process. The admissions team will contact candidates within one month of the interview to share the admissions committee’s decision to

  1. Offer a position in the incoming class,
  2. Place the candidate on the waiting list, or
  3. Release the candidate from consideration

Candidates offered a position have two weeks to accept and make a $1,000 deposit that will be applied to the first semester’s tuition.

Waiting List

Candidates on the waiting list are ranked and will be offered positions based on availability after all interviews are completed. Waitlist candidates who have been offered a position will have two weeks to accept the position and make the $1,000 deposit.

Deferment

Students accepted into the Emory PA Program may apply for a one-year deferment by writing to the Director of Admissions before the beginning of orientation week. The Admissions Committee will review each case, and decisions are made on an individual basis. Students whose deferment request has been granted must reach out to the Director of Admissions no later than April 1 to discuss requirements for re-admission into the program. Those students not granted deferment must reapply to the program through CASPA.
