There is no single diagnostic test to confirm ALS. Clinical diagnosis is made from a combination of the following:
- Neurological exam
- History
- EMG/NCV
- Blood work to rule out other causes
- Sometimes muscle biopsy and lumbar puncture are performed
Southeast ALS Alliance (sALSa)
The Southeast ALS Alliance (sALSa) is a network of 15 ALS clinics in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The network’s mission is to optimize the care of pALS through collaboration, education, advocacy, and research. sALSa wants to foster the development and growth of expert ALS clinics throughout the southeast to bring excellent care closer to the patients to expand access to research and teaching centers.
