- One semester of English (writing or literature)
- Two semesters of General Biology with laboratory
- One semester of Biochemistry
- Two semesters of General Chemistry with laboratory
- One semester of Human Anatomy with laboratory OR Two semesters of Anatomy and Physiology combined course with laboratory
- One semester of General, Human or Medical Physiology (this course is in addition to the Human Anatomy/lab or A&P I and II/labs requirement listed above)
- One semester of Medical Terminology, or a certificate of completion
- One semester of Organic Chemistry with laboratory
- Two semesters of Physics
- One semester of Calculus
- In-person of online classes completed at any regionally accredited institution (similarly accredited in Canada) accepted
Courses with 5-year deadline
Only these courses are required to be retaken if they are older than five (5) years at the time of application. If one section of the course has expired, retake only that section:
- Human or Medical Physiology lecture
- Physics lecture
- Human Anatomy or Anatomy and Physiology I and II/lab

Courses in-person or online will be accepted from 2 or 4 year regionally accredited institutions
Strongly preferred (but not required) courses:
- Biochemistry lab
- Physics labs
- Physiology lab
- One semester of Statistics
- One semester of Cellular Biology
- One semester of Molecular Biology
- One semester of Organic Chemistry II
- Additional patient care experience in a clinical setting
- Applicants should present a strong academic record in all coursework - not just the required prerequisite courses.
Additional information:
- In-person and virtual prerequisite classes/labs will be accepted from regionally accredited institutions. A letter grade and official transcript are required - (UCSanDiego, UCBerkley, etc.)
- Credits from Portage Learning/Straighterline or other generic learning platforms are not accepted.
- Advanced placement credits listed on the official college transcripts will be accepted. If you have AP credit in any of the sciences, it is recommended that you complete an upper-level course to maintain your knowledge in that area.
- Advance coursework is highly preferred across all subjects. However general, principles and fundamental sections of courses are acceptable survey courses (e.g., "Survey of Biology")
- Not accepted: Microbiology, Pathophysiology, Inorganic Chemistry, animal based courses/labs, Pre-calculus
- Pass/Fail results for required prerequisite courses will not be accepted, except for coursework completed during the pandemic.
- All prerequisite courses and academic degree program must be completed before matriculation, a letter grade of "B" or better preferred.
- Reapplicants must complete any newly proposed prerequisite requirements.
- Applicants who have been out of academic practice or who have not worked in fields that require advanced-level math and science are strongly encouraged to revisit prerequisites
- Exemptions from the required prerequisite coursework will not be granted, regardless of professional background, test results, academic degrees, clinical experience or specialized certifications.
- Credit consideration: Anatomy and Physiology course requirement completed at a master’s level can only be granted by the Admissions Committee and will be determined after matriculation.
- The Emory AA Program does not require the CASPer evaluation.

Applicants are advised to review all requirements carefully and determine personal competitiveness. Science course requirements are intended to demonstrate a sound knowledge in each of the basic science areas. We expect candidates to have a solid foundation in these areas prior to applying. An applicant's GPA in the sciences are carefully considered.
