The interview is a mandatory part of the application process. An application must be completed before an individual will be considered for an interview. Interviews are by invitation only. All candidates selected to interview must be interviewed in-person. Emory does not conduct individual, zoom or weekend interview sessions. Candidates selected for an interview will receive email notifications and instructions.
Interviews include meetings with admissions, program faculty and a tour with current AA students. Interviewing applicants have three (3) one-on-one interviews and a group session over a two and a half hour period as well as opportunities to interact with our current students.
The AA Program Office will provide information about scheduling procedures, location, parking and lodging at the time the interview invitation is extended. It is important that the office have an applicants’ current telephone number and email address so that individuals can be contacted in a timely manner about any last-minute modifications.
After all selected candidates have completed the interview process, the Admissions Committee will extend offers of admission to those candidates who best qualify for the program. A complete and individualized process is used when considering candidates. Candidates will be notified via email of the program’s decision regarding admission.
Admission to the Master of Science in Anesthesia program is based on a combination of academic performance and demonstration of other non-cognitive characteristics including professionalism including reliability and accountability; honesty and integrity; compassion and respect; maturity including tolerance of anxiety and stress management; leadership; motivation for providing health care; and co-curricular and work experience.
Selected Candidates - those admitted to the program will:
- Remit acceptance forms and $1,000 tuition deposit at the instructed time (typically 2 weeks)
- Provide documentation for required immunizations, titer shots, physical and any health information required by agencies for clinical placement. All requirements must be current at all times.
- Have financial needs in place
- Clear a background and substance check
- Meet technical standards
- Complete all academic programs and pending prerequisite courses prior to the start date if you have not already done so. Course substitutions will not be accepted.

Candidates Not Selected - Due to the highly competitive process of selecting applicants for admission, an interviewee may not be accepted for admission. An additional year of preparation, revisiting exams for desired scores and taking additional course work prior to the formal admission cycle may make a significant difference. Applicants will be limited to two official interviews with the Emory AA Program.
