Emory at Grady Professional Development

Grady attracts a diverse and dedicated faculty committed to delivering quality health care for the community served by Grady, preparing learners for the future in which they will serve and lead, and conducting high-impact scholarship that addresses unmet patient or societal needs.

In conjunction with the SOM faculty development efforts, the Emory at Grady Professional Development team is committed to supporting programs and opportunities that develop, retain, engage, and empower our faculty and staff. Importantly, we strive to build community and collaboration among faculty and staff on the Grady campus. The Emory at Grady Professional Development team hosts events that provide an opportunity for fellowship among our faculty and staff.

Emory at Grady Professional Development Lecture Series

Join us for this monthly lecture that highlights traditional faculty development topics, but will also feature content important to faculty and staff on the Grady campus. The events are aimed at faculty members, but open to all.

Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Course

Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is an emerging patient assessment tool that can be utilized for diagnostic and procedural purposes. Clinicians in a wide variety of specialties can utilize POCUS to improve bedside diagnostic assessments as well as improved safety and efficacy for procedural guidance. Directed by Dr. Joshua Guttman, this half-day course scheduled for September 22, 2022, will focus on image acquisition and interpretation of POCUS modalities applicable to a wide range of medical specialties.  Learn more and apply via the link above. 

Health Equity Advocacy Course

The Advocacy Course is a 5-month multi-pronged educational intervention that will bring faculty, learners, and community members from several institutions together to advocate around common health related priorities. This innovative course will go well beyond didactic instruction and include experiential learning that will leverage collaboration and, importantly, have tangible outcomes as a result. Participants will learn while doing.

Emory at Grady Clinical Research Mentoring Program

Emory at Grady Faculty Development Program is pleased to offer a 4-month clinical research mentoring program for Emory faculty based at Grady. This program will provide resources, information and tools to develop clinical research projects. The course will have didactic sessions paired with mentoring and networking. Participants will have the opportunity to be paired with experienced faculty as mentors, with the specific goal of working through some of the hurdles to getting started on clinical research projects.

Faculty Development Program: Under-Represented in Medicine* (URiM)

The School of Medicine in collaboration with the Department of Medicine Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Council with support from Health Resources and Services Administration are pleased to offer a 5-month career development program for Under-represented minority faculty. This longitudinal program will provide resources, information and tools important for academic success. The course will feature didactic sessions from diverse speakers, experiential components, along with peer mentoring and networking.

Grady Faculty Development for Clinical Teachers

The School of Medicine is pleased to offer a four-month career development course designed especially for clinical teachers. This course is brought to you by two Stanford trained facilitators, Reena Hemrajani and Richard Pittman. The Stanford Faculty Development Clinical Teaching program is a validated, internationally recognized method of training for medical teachers to enhance their skills to be more effective in any medical educational setting. The goals of each seminar are to enhance teacher versatility, provide educators with an opportunity to analyze teaching and to foster collegial exchange.

Interdepartmental Learning (IDEAL)

IDEAL brings together Grady experts from multiple departments to discuss clinical and process issues relevant to Grady faculty and staff in an effort to collaboratively problem solve.
