Overview

The Abdominal Core Health Program of the Division of General and GI Surgery offers open, minimally invasive, and robotic surgical methods for treating abdominal wall defects, hernias, and other diseases and conditions that affect the core — the muscles and supporting structures in the front, sides and back of the body, as well as the diaphragm above and pelvic muscles below.
Our faculty surgeons receive referrals from throughout the Southeast, and offer abdominal core surgery services at Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory Johns Creek Hospital, and Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital.
Surgical Services

In the process of delivering surgical services, our abdominal core health surgeons collaborate with colleagues in the fields of pain management, anesthesiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and rehabilitation services.
Available surgical procedures with minimally invasive and open options include complex abdominal wall reconstruction, ventral hernia repair, and inguinal hernia repair (please visit the robotic hernia surgery section of the Emory Healthcare website for comprehensive details about ALL types of hernia surgery available at Emory).
