Caroline Medin and Jessica Keilson receive 2022 ASCO Merit Awards
JANUARY 2022
Emory general surgery residents Caroline Medin, MD, and Jessica Keilson, MD, received Conquer Cancer Merit Awards from the Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology for the 2022 Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium in San Francisco, held January 20-22.
Both residents' mentors are surgical oncologist-scientist Shishir K. Maithel, MD, and cancer immunologist Gregory Lesinski, PhD, MPH.
These distinguished awards recognize fellows and trainees who are first authors on top-ranking abstracts selected for presentation at the annual symposium.
Dr. Keilson presented "Galectin-9 expression and decreased survival in advanced biliary tract cancers," and Dr. Medin presented "High-risk gene expression in colorectal liver metastasis: Potential for novel therapies."
This is the 7th year that residents working in Dr. Maithel's lab have been recognized with Merit Awards.
